Hi ArtFoamie Lovers! It's Niki Green, and I just love creating with ArtFoamies.
I love to paint terra cotta planters, but sometimes it's really difficult to achieve the look I'm going for when painting on a curved surface, so I've discovered that it's much easier to collage on painted and embellished papers. Read on and you'll see what I mean!
My first step was to paint the pot with one coat of black gesso and one coat of black paint.
My next step was to load up my stamp buddies with a variety of paint colours (Dylusions) and started to stamp with Art by Marlene's Circle Salad.
I got some great effects, and since I didn't want to waste any paint, I stamped a bunch of images onto plain white paper.
I cut out and outlined each print with a black and white gel pens, to make the colours pop a bit more, and then gave them a spritz with some varnish to make certain the pen work wouldn't fade when I added gel medium.....which is the next step.
I adhered the circles randomly with TCW Gel Medium (Matte) and watched my vision come to life.
I decided to paint the rim of the pot blue, because, let's face it; you can never have too much colour! And then I added tiny blue dots randomly with the end of a paintbrush.
Once it was dry, I sprayed it with a glossy sealer.
