Hello! Nicole here with a new project!
For December I wanted to create something for the winter holidays. However, as I looked through my stamps, I didn’t have anything that was specific to the season, so, I needed to think outside the box! What stamps could I use in a different way to look like they were for the season and Christmas?? I saw the antique tile stamp in a new way: a snowflake! I could picture this stamped in white on brown paper looking beautiful.
Wrapping paper seemed a little simple for the tutorial, so I wanted to also add some tags for the packages. Again, I had to look through my stamps and wondered if I could make any of the herbs look like winter greenery. Yes! The rosemary one would make a great pine tree branch.
Wrapping Paper: brayer white gesso on the antique tile stamp, and then stamp on the brown paper. Stamp all over randomly (or in a pattern, but I didn’t want that pressure to make it perfect!). I put fresh gesso on my stamp each time, but you could stamp again and have lighter and darker snowflakes. I also used the same process to stamp one single snowflake on a gift bag to dress it up. I used gesso because it’s less expensive than white paint and is often opaquer.
Gift Tags: Using a smaller brayer, spread green paint on the rosemary plant but not the words. Stamp onto your tag. When the tag is dry, use the end of a paintbrush to make berry circles on the greenery. After the berries dry, splatter watered down white gesso and/or metallic paint on the tags for snow. (I used both on all of the tags, even the white ones.) Add a sentiment with a stamp for your seasonal greeting.
Packaging: Once all your creations are dry, wrap your gifts! Use colored tissue paper, baker’s twine and then added a tag. Don’t forget to write who the package is for and from on the back of the tag!
This process was so simple, but I absolutely LOVE the results. When I do this again, I’m going to set up a long table and roll out the paper to make a large amount. I made just enough to wrap my three gifts, but now I want to make more. And, this roll of paper was only a dollar at the dollar store.
Add a special touch to your gifts this year with ArtFoamies. You might need to think outside the box, but your results will be awesome.
