Hello ArtFoamies fans! February has snuck on me… has it also on you? While I don’t usually go all out decorating for Valentine’s day, it’s fun to put up a few decorations for a “galentine’s” party, surprise valentine breakfast, or even a romantic evening at home.
Banners are a fun way to add a little holiday decor to a space. For this tutorial, I’m using three ArtFoamies heart stamps to create a really quick and easy valentine banner. I kept it pretty simple, but you could add some letters to spell L-O-V-E, doilies, fancy ribbon, or even cut pictures of people into hearts—the sky is definitely the limit. The ArtFoamies hearts are a starting point to even more creation!
Use a gelli plate as your stamp pad. Simply brayer combinations of paint onto the plate, stamp your AftFoamies on the plate, and then stamp on some white card stock. Simple! Add more paint to change colors, or clean off the plate with deli/copy paper to start with fresh colors. I love the marbling and blending that happens when the gelli plate is used as a stamp pad.
After the hearts dry, cut around them with scissors leaving a small white border.
Grab a tape runner and various colors of card stock. Stick your cut out hearts on the card stock and then cut around them again leaving a colored border. You don’t have to do this step - but adding the extra layer of card stock not only adds interest and sets off your stamped creation, it also adds more weight so your hearts hang flat and don’t curl. (As an added bonus, it also covers the back of the white card stock. My white card stock had messed up projects on the other side! I was able to recycle it into these hearts.)
Punch holes and thread the hearts with baker’s twine. Finally, hang your banner! (Note: Use some wash tape around the end of the twine for easier threading!)
Ideas for extra hearts!
I made more hearts than I needed for the banner, so I brainstormed a few other ways to use them.
Spread some ArtFoamies love this month….Happy Creating!
